In 2012, a project for the developing of VERSIONES SLAVICAE won funding from the Bulgarian Scientific Research Fund. The application was made with the institutional support of the Central Library of BAS. At that time the project team consisted of Yavor Miltenov (Institute for Bulgarian Language and Central Library of BAS), project manager, Aneta Dimitrova (Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”), Iva Trifonova (Cyril and Methodius Research Center, BAS), Lora Nenkovska (then – National History Museum), Maria Mitova (then – PhD student at the Cyril and Methodius Research Center). Software for the databases was prepared by Petar Parvanov, the web page was developed by Nikola Stoyanov (at that time both part of the Central Library of BAS).

In 2013 the financing of the projects throughout the Fund’s competition was suspended for reasons not dependent of the contractors’ work.

The work on VERSIONES SLAVICAE started again in 2018 through an individual three-year sub-project of Yavor Miltenov, implemented at the Institute of Bulgarian Language, part of the project “Language resources from original and translated works of the Bulgarian Middle Ages”.
